Illinois Men's Basketball vs. Purdue 2021
Illinois men vs. Purdue in a NCAA basketball game at the State Farm Center in Champaign on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
Illinois center Kofi Cockburn goes up for a dunk during Saturday night’s game against Purdue at State Farm Center in Champaign. Despite missing all six of his free throw attempts — a theme throughout the Illini on the night — Cockburn delivered a team-high 14 points and 10 rebounds to help lift No. 15 Illinois to a 66-58 win against the Boilermakers.
Andre Curbelo, middle, hasn’t gone through the starting lineup introductions like Da’Monte Williams, right, has this season, but coming off the bench for the first 11 Illini games of his college career doesn’t seem to bother Curbelo. ‘Every time I’m on the bench, I stay focused on the game,’ said Curbelo, who is averaging 9.7 points and 4.5 assists for 12th-ranked Illinois ahead of Thursday night’s game at Northwestern. ‘That way when I come in, I know what I’ve got to do and what we need.’
