URBANA — The Champaign County Libertarian Party is set to welcome presidential candidate Ken Armstrong and vice presidential candidate John Phillips of Decatur, as guests at its meeting Thursday at Toro Loco, 1601 N. Cunningham Ave., U.

The event will start with a social time at 6:30 p.m. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Local Libertarian Party spokesman Russ Clark said the party has already qualified to make the 2020 ballot in 38 states.

“Ken served in the U.S. Coast Guard for over 20 years and is a decorated naval officer,” Clark said. “His role in NATO during the Bosnian Blockade was considerable, as well as his work for Habitat for Humanity in Hawaii.”
