At 4 p.m. Wednesday at the main library, enjoy tea with the Library Friends, a talk by scientist and author Bruce Fouke and a brief annual meeting. Fouke and photographer Tom Murphy collaborated on a beautiful book, "The Art of Yellowstone Science: Mammoth Springs as a Window on the Universe" (artofyellowstonescience.com). Copies will be on sale, with half of proceeds going to the Library Friends.
From 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the main library, Carrie Harris, a career counselor at Parkland College, will help participants practice answering some of the most frequently asked interview questions. At 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Ben the Bubble Guy (bensbubbleshow.biz) will make giant bubbles, blow bubble blizzards and create beautiful, mind-boggling soap bubble sculptures. He melds art and science with a touch of magic in shows designed especially for families.

At 3 p.m. Sunday in Lewis Auditorium, children 5 to 11 can take part in the next installment of the Young Artist's Studio. This time, they will design masks and costumes with local artist Laurel Nobilette. Participants will use recycled paper and fabric materials. A parade will follow. All supplies are provided. Dress comfortably and get ready to roll up your sleeves. Kids 7 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver. The Young Artist's Studio is a series of art workshops sponsored by library and the the Urbana Arts and Culture Program.
At 11 a.m. Thursday in Lewis Auditorium, take part in show and tell with Sandy Osborne of the Museum of the Grand Prairie as she shares artifacts and activities from the museum, including old-fashioned cameras and a thaumatrope. Feel free to bring an item from one of your own collections to share.
Join library staff members at King Park for the 20th annual Martin Luther King-Jettie Rhodes Neighborhood Day on Saturday, featuring free food, live entertainment and community resources. It runs from noon to 4 p.m.

At 3 p.m. Friday in the first-floor meeting room, Civil War historian and author Bob O'Connor will discuss his new book, "Dennis Hart Mahan: Military Tactics Instructor at West Point."
