At 7 p.m. Monday at the main library, learn tips and tricks for making travel arrangements, including how to use online resources available free for library cardholders. The program is part of the Get Curious at Your Library Summer Series.

From 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday at the main library, Carrie Harris, a career counselor at Parkland College, will share tips to help job seekers prepare for interviews and make a great first impression. Get That Job: Tips to Ace the Interview is part of the library's new Get That Job! series of career classes. Sign up at or call 217-403-2070.

From noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Douglass Branch, celebrate Juneteenth Emancipation Day, marking 154 years since the news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Texas and freed the last group of people enslaved there. The afternoon will include Chicago-based powerhouse performers, Ayodele Drum & Dance; gospel sensation Jean-René Balekita, who is from the Democratic Republic of Congo; and Mr. Lincoln, aka Kevin Woods. Families are invited to enjoy a bounce house, win free raffle prizes, dance to music by local DJs and much more.

Urbana Free Library

At 3 p.m. today in Lewis Auditorium, the library will host Drag Queen Story Hour: The Kitty Cat Edition, featuring cat crafts and stories. Also, feel free to dress up as a cat. Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSR) was developed by Michelle Tea and RADAR Productions. Many libraries host DQSR events as a way of celebrating diversity, building empathy and helping to curb bullying of LGBTQ kids. This event is co-sponsored by the UP Center of Champaign County.

At 7 p.m. Thursday in Lewis Auditorium, drop in and create something beautiful to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and Pride Month. Supplies will be available or bring your own project.

At 2 p.m. Friday, children 7 to 12 can join the Celebration Street Circus with Joe and Liana Reichlin. Youths can try juggling, clowning and equilibristics. Dress comfortably to move and have fun.

At 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the first-floor meeting room, Gregory's Academy of the Arts will present the 2019 Comedy Hour, which features three skits from the "Carol Burnett Show."
