URBANA — Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance regarding a drive-by shooting about two weeks ago in north Urbana.

About 9:15 p.m. Nov. 18, officers were called to the 1500 block of North Mathews Avenue for a report of shots fired.

Police learned the victims were in a parked vehicle when the occupants of another vehicle drove by and shot at them, hitting the driver in the side.

The suspect vehicle fled, traveling south on Mathews Avenue, west on Beardsley Avenue, north on Romine Street and west on Bradley Avenue.

Officers located several spent handgun and .223-caliber casings.

The offender was described as a Black male with braids. The suspect vehicle was described as a white sedan, possibly a two-door.

Police are asking businesses or residents in the area with surveillance cameras to review the footage for any suspicious people or vehicles in the area before, during or after the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 217-373-TIPS or 373tips.com or via the free “P3 Tips” mobile app.

Tipsters are always 100 percent anonymous when contacting Crime Stoppers. All tips are electronically stripped of any personally identifying information and processed by a third-party answering service, not law enforcement.

Cash rewards of up to $1,000 are paid for tips that lead to an arrest. Tipsters will never be asked their name and receive a secret code to check on a possible reward.
