MAHOMET — A 47-year-old Mahomet man faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse after allegedly engaging in sexual conduct with two minors last month.

The case came to the attention of the Mahomet Police Department after one of the minors reported the abuse to his mother, Champaign County State's Attorney Julia Rietz said. Police on Thursday arrested Timothy Michael Taylor, 47, who listed an address in the 1400 block of East White Oak Court, Mahomet.

Both victims were interviewed by authorities at the Champaign County Children's Advocacy Center and gave consistent accounts of what happened, Rietz said.

The charges are Class 2 felonies with penalties of between three and seven years in prison.

Taylor's bond was set at $200,000. He posted the 10 percent to be released from jail and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 9.
