CHAMPAIGN — The Carle health system has named its newest medical clinic Carle Outpatient Services at the Fields, and the first specialty set to move in there will begin seeing patients on Monday.

Moving in first at the new clinic at Carle at The Fields — the development at the Interstate 57/Curtis Road interchange — will be oral and maxillofacial surgery, which is relocating from 1813 W. Kirby Ave., C.

Carle's North Clinic in Urbana will continue to also see oral and maxillofacial surgery patients.

Other Carle specialty departments will follow at the new campus over the next couple of months. They include plastic surgery on April 15; optometry, optical retail and ophthalmology on April 29; general surgery and bariatric surgery on May 6; and ear, nose and throat, audiology and hearing services on May 20.

Relocating all these departments to Carle at the Fields is intended to improve accessibility for patients and foster more collaboration between specialty and surgical departments, according to Caleb Miller, senior vice president of surgical services.

The other two medical facilities on the same campus — the outpatient surgery center operated by Carle and Christie Clinic and Christie's new medical office building — are already open.
