In a December entry in our popular "Getting Personal" feature, DENISE POINDEXTER told us how excited she was to be the incoming president of the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana. On Tuesday night at the Urbana Country Club, it became official, Stratum Med's director of executive search services making history in the process.
She celebrated with friends at Crudo in Champaign.
"Wine, lots of laughter and genuine love."
She raved about her fellow Junior Leaguers.
"My heart is filled with gratefulness. I am overwhelmed with love and support from so many amazing women who served before me and from the amazing women who are members of this inspiring organization."
Even better ...
"Mostly, I am proud to serve as the first black president. I hope other little girls who look like me know they can accomplish anything by living life confidently and authentically. #BlackGirlMagic at its finest."
Co-workers have not been asked to address her as 'President Poindexter.' Yet.
"I actually prefer Madame President and would greatly appreciate my friends and colleagues to bow before me when they see me. Is that too much to ask?"
She has much to accomplish during her term.
"My goals are to focus on leadership development for our members and other women in our community as well as member recruitment and retention. We want to provide a member-centric experience that is tailored to the needs and desires of our diverse membership while developing a leadership journey for women in our community. We have a dynamic leadership team and fabulous members who will help us achieve these goals!"
