CAMARGO — A Camargo teen was killed and a woman hospitalized following a head-on crash Thursday night in rural Douglas County.

Douglas County Coroner Joe Victor identified the victim as Thomas A. Watson, 18. An autopsy was to be performed Friday morning. Victor said he was a senior at Villa Grove High School.

Illinois State Police said the collision occurred at 6 p.m. on Illinois 130 about a mile north of Camargo near County Road 1125 N.

Victor said Mr. Thomas was the sole occupant of a Chrysler convertible that was headed north in the southbound lane for an unknown reason.

Police said his car collided with a southbound Chevrolet Traverse driven by Carol A. Nixon, 59, of Oakland, as that vehicle came over the crest of a hill.

Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane.

Nixon was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, where she was listed in good condition late Friday morning.

Illinois 130 was closed for about four hours as police investigated. No charges were pending, police said.
