UPDATE: One injured in shooting at Danville housing complex

UPDATE, 7:55 p.m.:

DANVILLE — A 25-year-old man has been hospitalized after a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the Fair Oaks public housing complex that police said stemmed from a physical altercation.

Police Cmdr. Josh Webb said that at 1:45 p.m., officers were called to the 900 block of Redden Court for a report of a man in lying in the road with a gunshot wound. The victim was located and taken to an area hospital for treatment, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police said a witness told them that a dispute had occurred between several men and a physical altercation took place shortly before the victim was shot.

There is currently no information available on a suspect. No other injuries were reported.

DANVILLE — Danville police are investigating a possible shooting at the Fair Oaks Public housing complex.

Emergency medical personal responded to the complex for a call for a gunshot victim sometime before 2 p.m. today.

Residents who were walking to a nearby grocery store said they observed a man lying in the middle of Lewis Lane near Fairchild Street on the south end of the complex.

The man was loaded into an ambulance, where paramedics were trying to stabilize him, and taken to the hospital.

Police cordoned off an area with crime-scene tape and are currently canvassing the complex.
