MAHOMET — Bret W. Fry, 41, of Chillicothe, formerly of Mahomet, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 19, 2018) at his home.
Bret was born on Nov. 10, 1976, in Peoria to Larry R. Fry and Karen Kay Kline.
Surviving are his mother, Karen Kay (Jon) Machula of Champaign; one son, Donovan Lee Holmes of Urbana; one daughter, Brooke Karen Fry of Mossville; one sister, Amy (Ken) Holland of Tuscola; and grandparents, Wilma (Jack) Fry of Peoria and Barbara Kline of Fort Myers, Fla.
Bret was preceded in death by his father, Larry, and grandfather, Harry Kline.
Bret graduated from Mahomet-Seymour High School. He then went on to work at Coca-Cola in Urbana for 14 years, before most recently working as a certified welder at Caterpillar. He collected movies that he loved to watch with his children, as well as listening to music.
Bret was a very talented artist, loved his skateboard, Harley-Davidson, and the dancing bears of the Grateful Dead. He had a deep love for the family farm, his animals and, of course, his children, whom he spent as much time with as possible. Bret was known for being a “very kind person with a soft heart.”
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at Prospect Cemetery in Dunlap. A celebration of life will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at Round Barn Banquet Center in Champaign. Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Princeville is in charge of arrangements.
