AUSTIN, Texas — Gary O. Dayton, 74, of Austin, Texas, formerly Champaign, lost his battle with Parkinson's on Tuesday (May 8, 2018).
Gary was born Aug. 7, 1943, the son of Cleve Dayton and Eleanor Tabaka (both deceased).
Gary has two sisters, Bonnie Clark (deceased) and Toni Tabaka (Larry). He has two brothers, Larry Tabaka, and Cleveland Dayton.
Gary married Sandra Whites in Canton on July 3, 1964. She survives. Also surviving are two children, Michael Dayton and Christine Foster, both of Austin; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Gary graduated from Champaign Central High School in 1961. He attended the University of Illinois and served in the United States Navy.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Champaign, for many years. For over 35 years, he owned and operated Specialty Stamp and Coin in Champaign.
He enjoyed playing poker and contract bridge, where he earned the designation of life master.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
