CHAMPAIGN — Leslie (Les) Nuss, 82, of Champaign passed away Saturday (Nov. 3, 2018) at Carriage Crossing, Savoy.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018, at Morgan Memorial Home, Savoy. Pastor Tom Hillertz will officiate. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Glen Cemetery, Paxton. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Les was born Feb. 26, 1936, in Paxton, the son of Ralph G. and Lottie Patton Nuss. He married the love of his life, Janice (Jan) Anderson, on Aug. 17, 1958, in Paxton; she survives.
Also surviving are his loving daughter, Amy (Brian) Owens of Hinsdale, and their three children, Brian, Carly and Claire, who were the absolute joys of his life; one sister, Vicki (Chuck) Harris of Paxton; one brother, Jerry Nuss of Rossville; and one sister-in-law, Sharon (Rod) Parks of Fort Collins, Colo.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Les graduated from Paxton High School, attended Eastern Illinois University and retired from the Champaign post office after 34 years of service. He proudly served in the Illinois Army National Guard from 1958 to 1967.
Les cheered for the Cubs, Bears and Illini, but his favorite pastime was being with his amazing friends and loving family, all the while enjoying a cold "Millers" lite.
He was an extremely generous and kind man who will be missed by his so many buddies and “pardners.” His distinctive laugh and smile will never be forgotten.
Memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Crossing, Illini Shrine Club, the Elks Lodge or AMVETS.
