DANVILLE – Roy R. Christison, 81, of Danville passed away at his home on Friday (March 24, 2017).

Roy was born on July 22, 1935, in Jacksonville, Ill., to Carl and Marie (Craddock) Christison.

Roy was the youngest of four siblings, Marjorie, Edward and Vivian. Roy was a 1953 graduate of Jacksonville High School.

Roy married the love of his life, Jean V. Knight, on Feb. 26, 1956, in White Hall, Ill. She preceded him in death on Jan. 11, 2015. Roy and Jean cherished a wonderful marriage of nearly 59 years. They had three children during this time, Suzi, Steve and Jim.

After they were married, Roy lived briefly in Michigan and Wisconsin before returning to Jacksonville. In 1969, Roy and Jean had the opportunity to move to Danville and purchase Danville Wholesale Paper (now Danville Paper and Supply Inc.). During the next several decades they worked tirelessly to build the business and be active citizens in the Danville community. They also were regularly attending members of First Presbyterian Church.

Those who knew Roy know that riding his motorcycles was one of his greatest pleasures. Whether it was taking the street bike out for an evening cruise or loading the dirt bike up for a Saturday on the trails, he was always ready to go!

Roy is survived by his three children, Susan (Jim) Scholtz of McHenry, Ill., Steve (Debbie) Christison of Carrollton, Ill., and Jim (Anne) Christison of Danville; six grandchildren, Ben (Michelle) Scholtz, Aaron Scholtz, Carly Christison, Colin Christison, Samantha Christison and Jeffrey Christison; one great-grandson, Jasper Scholtz; a sister, Vivian (Vedder) Knight of White Hall; and many special nieces and nephews, who affectionately referred to him as "Good Ole Uncle Roy."

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Edward Christison; and one sister, Marjorie Choate.

A celebration of Roy's life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Danville.
