ALDIE, Va. – Shawn "Nicholas" Cook, 29, of Aldie, Va., passed away on Friday (Sept. 30, 2016) at his residence.

Friends and family may call at Adams Run Baptist Church, 8113 Highway 162, Adams Run, S.C., on Thursday, Oct. 6, from 1 p.m. until hour of service. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Nicholas was born on Jan. 12, 1987, in Charleston, S.C., son of Martha "Marti" (Richardson) Cook of Monticello and the late Gary Oliver Cook.

He graduated from Monticello High School, Class of 2005. He graduated from Illinois State University in 2009 where he received his bachelor's degree in finance. In 2011, he received his MBA from Illinois State University.

Nicholas was very passionate about music and enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. He loved the beach. Most importantly, he loved his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Marti, are: stepfather, Matthew Baker of Monticello; two brothers, Brandon Cook and Andrew Cook, both of Monticello; one sister, Katelyn Baker of Monticello; maternal grandmother, Barbara Richardson of Adams Run, S.C.; paternal grandmother, Janice Cook of Adams Run, S.C.; grandparents, Collette and Ronald Baker of Weldon; great-grandmother, Nina Richardson of Summerville, S.C.; former spouse, Abbey (Winder) Cook of Aldie, Va.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandfathers, David Richardson and Burke Cook.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
