Trip to old store
a fun memory
I appreciated Tom Kacich’s Mailbag for reviving memories of South Side Grocery Store. It was a staple for all the neighbors in the 1950s.
I vividly remember trotting the two blocks to the store — quarter in hand and dog Bozo at my side. I would look for bread, and Bozo would peruse the discards from the butcher in back. We would leave — me with bread and two pennies and Bozo dragging a carcass of some sort. Different times. Great memories.
