These movers-and-shakers in the college basketball world had themselves a good week. Our college basketball writer explains why:


Juwan Howard put together an interesting first staff at Michigan. Retaining Saddi Washington wasn't a surprise. Neither was bringing Detroit native Howard Eisley on board. Former Saint Joseph's coach Phil Martelli? A bit of a surprise.


It might be June, but there are apparently still quality players to add in the 2019 class. Four-star point guard Nah'shon "Bones" Hyland signed with VCU on Tuesday. Great nickname, and a great pickup for a potential top 25 team in the Rams.


Officiating isn't a full-time gig even if those guys spend a lot of nights on the road for their side job. Big Ten fans will recognize one of the three candidates to be the next Grand Rapids (Mich.) police chief — Big Ten official Larry Scirotto.
