A different Illini baseball player will fill in readers throughout the week on the team's weeklong trip to Curaco and Aruba. First up, senior pitcher Zak Devermann:
Hey, Illini Baseball fans!
My name is Zak Devermann, and this upcoming Thanksgiving break our team is traveling to the islands of Curaçao and Aruba for a community service trip.
Along with touring the islands and volunteering with some local camps, we'll also have the opportunity to play some games against some of the local people on the island.
Playing these games will help us create more team chemistry and better prepare us for our season this upcoming spring.
With the next week full of games and fun activities, it's important to look back at the incredible week we just had with the announcement of our new indoor facility, the Susan and Clint Atkins Baseball Training Center. This new indoor facility will give us the opportunity to workout year round in a controlled temperature environment. As a program, we are incredibly thankful for this new building because it will help us move forward and continue our program's great success.
We left early Saturday morning from Illinois Field at 2:30 a.m. and just got into Curacao for batting practice. It was a long trip, but it will be worth it. I hope you enjoy reading our daily posts so you can keep up with our trip. Thanks for reading and go Illini!
