Mattoon 6, Centennial 2. The sixth-seeded Chargers trailed 5-0 after three innings and couldn't make up the deficit in a regional semifinal setback. Trey Ryan and Nolan DeVriese each had an RBI for Centennial (18-15).
Salt Fork 8, Okaw Valley 1. The Storm enjoyed a 5-1 lead through three innings and the pitching of Matthew Wrzosek didn't let Okaw Valley back in during a sectional semifinal win. Wrzosek threw a four-hit complete game and struck out seven for Salt Fork (23-4), which advances to Saturday's 10 a.m. sectional title game at Danville Stadium against Mt. Pulaski. Wrzosek helped himself out at the plate, going 2 for 4 with two RBI, while Payton Taylor was 2 for 3 with two RBI and a home run. Gage Romack (2 for 4, RBI) and Josh Weller (2 for 3, two runs scored) also contributed for Salt Fork.
Mt. Pulaski 7, Cissna Park 6. The Timberwolves (19-13) saw their season end with a sectional semifinal loss.
LeRoy 3, Ridgewood 0. Nate Sammer threw 6 2 / 3 innings of no-hit ball before leaving because of his pitch count before Mason Buckles finished off the no-hitter by getting the final out in a sectional semifinal win by the Panthers (23-5). Logan Petersen (2 for 3, two RBI) and Ty Egan (2 for 3, RBI) propelled the offense for LeRoy, which now plays Ottawa Marquette at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the sectional championship game.
Clinton 4, Springfield 0. The fifth-seeded Maroons kept their season intact behind a superb pitching performance from Mackenzie Armstrong to earn a regional semifinal win. Armstrong threw a three-hit shutout and struck out three for the Maroons (10-17), who advanced to play top seed Rochester at 4:30 p.m. on Friday in the regional title game. Zoie Polen (2 for 2, RBI), Elly Maier (2 for 3, RBI) and Savannah Clifton (2 for 4, RBI) led Clinton.
Olympia 4, St. Joseph-Ogden 2. St. Joseph-Ogden took a 2-0 lead after the top of the first inning, but couldn't add to it or sustain the advantage in suffering a sectional semifinal defeat. Hannah Dukeman went 2 for 4 with a run scored for SJ-O (22-10), which drew 10 walks, but left 12 runners stranded on base. Katie Poulter and Lauren Trankina each drove in a run.
Breese Mater Dei 5, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 2. ALAH led 2-1 through four innings, but couldn't hold on in a season-ending sectional semifinal loss. Reagan Miller compiled an RBI for the Knights (24-7) and Makenzie Brown struck out 11 in a complete game.
