GEORGETOWN — Tuscola baseball is humming right along a year after placing third in state.
The Warriors won their second straight Class 2A regional title with a 12-2 win against Oakwood in six innings on Saturday.
Tuscola (28-2) received three hits apiece from Cade Kresin and Brayden VonLanken and led 6-2 after three innings against the Comets (16-14) before for its 21st consecutive victory.
Logan Tabeling threw all six innings for the Warriors, striking out eight and only allowing two hits, with Jacob Spear and Cayden Wells each registering a single for Oakwood.
Tuscola will face Clifton Central at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in a Bloomington Central Catholic Sectional semifinal game at McGraw Park.
Salt Fork rolls. Payton Taylor went 3 for 4 with three RBI to lead Salt Fork to a 14-0 win in five innings against Schlarman at Saturday's Class 1A Schlarman Regional championship game.
Kotah Broeker, Gage Romack and Kaleb Hurt all drove in two runs as the Storm (22-4) won its second straight regional title. Romack and Josh Weller combined on a two-hit shutout of the Hilltoppers (9-16), advancing Salt Fork to a 4:30 p.m. sectional semifinal game on Wednesday against Okaw Valley in Danville.
T'Wolves hold on. Damian Renteria threw a complete game and Mario Renteria added three hits to guide Cissna Park to a 5-2 win against Grant Park on Saturday in the Class 1A Grant Park Regional title game.
Keegan Boyle added a solo home run for the Timberwolves (19-12), who will face Mt. Pulaski at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in a Schlarman Sectional semifinal game.
LeRoy advances. Colin Meyer and Mason Buckles each drove in three runs, leading host LeRoy to a 17-5 win in five innings against Peoria Christian in a Class 1A regional title game on Saturday.
Gabe Bennett and Ty Egan also chipped in with two RBI for the Panthers (22-5), who won their second straight regional title.
Falcons stumble. Jonathan Naour threw a no-hitter, pitching Bloomington Central Catholic to a 1-0 win against host Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley in a Class 2A regional title game on Saturday.
Nathan Garard threw a complete game for the Falcons (19-5).
Cornjerkers fall. Clifton Central defeated Hoopeston 12-0 in five innings on Saturday at the Class 2A Watseka Regional title game.
Lucas Hofer and Corey Moore each had a hit for Hoopeston Area (14-23).
